New novella, His Dark Song, published today!

Hey everyone,

I’m delighted to announce the release of my romantasy novella, His Dark Song, available to download now on Kindle Unlimited!

Here’s a short synopsis:

Independent Regan feels trapped and misunderstood in the narrow-minded town of Hamelin. Without warning, she unexpectedly becomes swept along in the revenge of a mysterious musician whilst out for a walk. That musician is Jonas, the Pied Piper. Carried off into the mountain, Regan is bitterly opposed to his scheme. But she soon discovers that there’s more to this devastatingly handsome stranger than first meets the eye.

When Regan discovers that Jonas is harboring a secret, she is faced with a dilemma. Nothing is as it seems, but one thing is certain: there is no easy way out. Can they fight against fate to find their own happy ending, or is their blossoming relationship doomed to fail?

This is a clean romance, with a HFN ending, published by Solstice Publishing.

You can download from Amazon here. If you do decide to download it, let me know what you think!

Have a great week, guys.

Thanks so much, Susan! Love the champagne bottles, but sadly (or perhaps fortunately) it’s just coffee here to celebrate (but a fresh bag of Colombian beans, which are my favorite!). All the enjoyment, without a headache the next day, lol! Ada xxπŸ˜ŠπŸŒΈπŸ’œ

This looks fantastic! I don’t have Kindle Unlimited and I only buy from Amazon with gifts cards. I am doing a No Spend January, but next month I plan to buy an Amazon card and do a little shopping. This one will definitely be on my list. Congratulations!!

Thank you so much for your kind comments! What a lovely surprise!! It’s an enemies-lovers romance, with a lot of conflict and tension. I’ve always been intrigued by the original tale of the Pied Piper, so it was great to create a romance based around the mystery! Let me know what you think; I’d love to hear your feedback! πŸ˜ŠπŸ“šπŸŒΈ

Jean, what a fantastic lady and author you are! I just saw that you gave my book a shout out on your website! I’ve been having issues with my WordPress account lately, so I had to resubscribe to a bunch of blogs, but the issue seems to be sorted now.

I’d love to respond to some of the comments, but I think my replies are stuck in your spam folder/filter? I’ll reply anyway and see if you can fish me out of there, lol! The funny thing is that I am actually posting a review of your book, All the Broken Places, later on today, so stay tuned. Feel free to drop by and comment, too, if you like (you are not stuck in my spam folder fortunately!). Catch up soon, Ada xxπŸ’œπŸ’πŸ˜Š

Thanks so much! Very kind of you to say. I guess I was inspired by the original tale; I just kept asking myself why the Pied Piper did what he did? Was it just revenge or something deeper than that? These questions inspired me to write an enemies-lovers romance story, exploring these questions. Thanks so much for stopping by πŸ˜ŠπŸ“š

Hi Ada, I read His Dark Song last week, review 2B published soon. I just read your guest article on fairytales too. My first-year core module at university was all about fairytales and folk tales how the oral tradition grew and evolved and got written down. Fascinating, and a pity you didn’t have that. Did you ever read The Bloody Chamber, by Angela Carter? Great feminist retellings in there, just as one good example. Anyway, have a good week and thanks for the post. πŸ₯°

Wow, Laura! THANK YOU, so much. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it. Wow, that module you did on fairytales sounds fantastic. You are indeed spot on regarding The Bloody Chamber (I was kind of obsessed for it for a while in my early thirties, when I first read it. I’m a huge fan of Angela Carter’s writing).

I can’t thank you enough. Your message has made my day! πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

You’re so welcome. I read the book on Scottish fires too, as they’re not long books and you read my long one. I like to reciprocate when another author reads my books, it’s just me, but aren’t we here to give each other a helping hand? I was so lucky to do the fairytale module – I went to uni in my 40s to study English, but in the 1st year they suggested that we study something else too, to give us a broader base of knowledge. This was the core module for Comparative Literature, which I eventually ended up teaching part-time for five years. It’s been such a huge help in my own writing, helped me understand so much about the writing of others and how everything can influence everything else. I’ve wanted on occasion to run a similar course, online, to help budding writers. I loved Carter’s feminist take on the Bluebeard story – especially when the mother tucks her dress into her knickers and rides to her daughter’s rescue. Excellent stuff! Anyway, I’ll let you know when I post the review on Amazon, and I might put them both on here before that You will be notified! Have a great week, Ada, good talking to you. πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

Oh, wow, Laura! That is so incredibly kind; I am lost for words. Thank you! πŸ˜ŠπŸ’œ I really appreciate your support, honestly I am so grateful. The fairytale module sounds fascinating, as does your teaching in Comparative Literature. I bet you made a fantastic teacher! I admire your authenticity; it shines through in your writing, too. Yes, Carter’s work is amazing. I remember reading The Magic Toyshop when I was eighteen or nineteen, and it just took my breath away. The Bloody Chamber, though, was really shocking for me; it changed how I thought about fairy tales and relationships in general. Thanks so much, again, for reviewing my books. I am incredibly grateful! xxπŸ˜ŠπŸ“š
