I was looking for a sweet romantasy to brighten up the chilly (almost winter) days and was so pleased to stumble upon Peaceweaver β an addictive elf-inspired romance, which kept me hooked from start to finish.
This is a sweet arranged-marriage story, with many ups and downs and plot twists woven in along the way. Drawing upon the myth of Hades and Persephone, the novel tells the story of Persis (a committed healer, who is idealistic and responsible) and Prince Haryk, who suffers from a devastating ailment (blindness) and wants to help his people. Despite the difficulties sheβs presented with, Persis is determined to help cure Prince Haryk but ends up unexpectedly falling for him.
Magic is a theme that runs throughout the story, with Persis wielding sand magic. Her powers are very much connected to her individuality, and I found her character to be relatable and easy to root for. The blending of fantasy, magic, and romance is what really made this book stand out for me. Itβs a clean read, offering lots of chemistry between the main characters. The stakes are high, and as a reader, I felt invested in the relationship between the main characters, willing them to end up together against the odds.
While this isnβt an exact retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth, I really enjoyed it, and those who enjoy sweet romantasy books wonβt, I think, be disappointed. The themes of magic, forgiveness, and political intrigue add a good dose of suspense into the plot. Iβll definitely be moving onto the next book in the series and can only hope that itβs as enjoyable as this one! Fingers crossed!
