Title: A Fate Inked in Blood

Author: Danielle Jensen

Genre: Romance / Fantasy

Rooted in Norse Mythology, A Fate Inked in Blood is a spectacular romantasy novel, which caught my interest from the very first page. I tore through this book, hardly putting it down from start to finish!

Freya, a shield maiden, is an excellent FMC, who is sold off as a bride to help her family, then once again, by her husband, so that he is free to marry another woman. A deeply compassionate and caring character, she is easy to root for. Jensen is excellent at producing character-driven plots, with evocative descriptions that transcend time and place.

Bjorn, meanwhile, is a super sizzling guy, with a traumatic past that haunts him: he was captured by the Nordlander overseen by the baddie who murdered his mother, so he’s hellbent on revenge. The romance between him and Freya is captivating and suspenseful, revolving around Freya’s betrothal to Snorri, a man much older than she is (and Bjorn’s father!).  The dialogue in the novel is riveting, and there’s a lot of witty exchanges, as well as tender moments, that will keep the reader engaged throughout.

All in all, I was really glad that I read this book. A Fate Inked in Blood is an excellent romatasy. I was glued to the pages throughout, and I’d recommend it to anyone who’s looking for an immersive read to keep them occupied as the nights draw in. Highly recommended!

I love the cover of this one, and fantasy is my go to genre. Romance not so much, but as long as it isn’t too angsty, I’m good. This sounds like a great read, Ada. I’m assuming that you’ll continue through the series. 🙂
